About Us

Curriculum Video Designer

Imagine if adolescent education was designed for all students to develop lives of meaning and purpose? In 2015 Project Wayfinder was founded at the Stanford d.school to answer this call. With our fifth academic year upon us, our toolkits + trainings have journeyed to over 60,000 students, 1000 teachers, 300 schools across 34 states and 20 countries.

With our $1.5M seed funding secured, we are now pushing our expansion across the country + globe. Our goal is to continue to double our impact and revenue each year for the coming years. Our vision is to become the preeminent SEL curriculum company in the world - leading the global movement of purpose learning, meaning making and belonging-based education world wide.

What We Value

You will be joining a staff of incredibly motivated and dedicated staff members that are committed to living the values of our organization. We have a very close culture where team members get to know one another and build lifelong relationships. We also feel and act like a purpose-driven organization. To the best of our abilities each person’s role aligns with their own sense of purpose which feeds into the organization’s larger sense of purpose.

We also value access, equity, diversity, and belonging. This is represented primarily in three ways: our product, our staff, and our schools.

Product: We have intentionally developed our curriculum to be able to cross national, racial, and socio-economic boundaries. During the process of curriculum development, we have had over 30 educators work on and develop the curriculum from a variety of backgrounds.

Team: Our team is composed of people from a diverse range of backgrounds and life experience. We intentionally recruit, hire, and work with people from diverse identities + experiences.

School Partners: We intentionally target a wide array of educational partners from traditional to non-traditional that work with a range of students from different socioeconomic groups: we have taught our curriculum in low income schools in the Bronx, independent schools in Silicon Valley, and after-school programs in San Antonio.

The Role

Wayfinder is looking for a passionate Curriculum Video Designer to join our team for a full-time OR contract role beginning in January to create engaging and meaningful video guides for our SEL activity library and lessons. This role reports to the Interim Head of Content. It is a fully remote position.

We strongly encourage people from traditionally underrepresented populations in tech - such as women, People of Color, People with Disabilities, and LGBTQ+ people, etc - to apply.

Content Creation + Filming

  • Oversee the K-12 SEL Activity Library video build-out process from beginning to end: identify clear and engaging ways to share instructions, ideas, and practices to guide students through 500+ SEL activities, self-record video content, and follow up with design and UX teams to ensure app usability.
  • Connect with the Curriculum Project Coordinator to codify SEL activities and practices in our Activity Library.
  • Synthesize Lesson Guide information to create student- and educator-facing introduction videos highlighting student skills, learning goals, and lesson walk-throughs.
  • Develop organizational systems to track content creation, filming, editing, etc.
  • Regularly connect with educators and students to seek feedback on student engagement and product usability and improvements. Apply research and feedback to videos and product functionality.
  • Work with development and UX teams to upload videos and curricula on Wayfinder’s app.

We are looking for a highly engaging, fun, approachable individual who is a demonstrated self-starter with a background and/or interest in K-12 education, SEL, mindfulness, and movement. Below we have listed out some things we are looking for:

  • Self-Motivated: This role is given a high level of autonomy and must be self-directed. We are looking for someone who is used to going above and beyond in a thoughtful way as part of their own typical work process.
  • Organized: You are going to be managing the entire video build-out of both our Activity Library and our K-12 grade level curricula. You need to be able to organize and manage all of this.
  • Comfortable on Camera: You will be the face of Wayfinder for educators and students around the world! We are hoping to find someone who knows how to bring creativity, levity, joy, and a professional spirit to our activities and curricula via video to make our products even more usable and meaningful.
  • Familiarity with K-12 Education: You do not necessarily need to have been a classroom teacher, but familiarity with the K-12 education system, curriculum, and students’ developmental stages is a must.
  • Facilitation Skills: Experience facilitating social-emotional learning curriculum for K-12 students is a plus. This means having a keen sense of how to navigate social-emotional learning lessons, being engaging and thoughtful, and ensuring every viewer feels more connected to our products through video.
  • Past experience that would help a candidate succeed in this role:
  • Worked as an educator for K-6 students (in schools, districts, outside partnerships, etc.)
  • Understanding of the Design Thinking process and the importance of prototyping
  • Experience working for a start-up or in EdTech
  • Enjoy creating internal systems and processes to organize data and analytics (i.e., spreadsheets!)
  • Worked with diverse networks of educators and schools/districts across the country

If full time, we offer a competitive package that is based on location and experience for full-time, permanent employees, in addition to the following benefits:

  • Stock: Ownership in a fast-growing venture-backed company.
  • 401k: We care about your ability to save for your future.

  • ...And much more! Lots of other perks make this company an incredible place to work.

Remote work. This role is remote, but requires you to be available for calls for at least 4 hours between 9am-5pm US Central Time. As such this role can be anywhere where you can commit to working half the day to overlap with that timezone, and will not require relocation once COVID is over.
