Wayfinder Education Funding Contractor

About the Company

Imagine if K-12 education was designed for all students to develop lives of meaning and purpose? In 2015 Wayfinder was founded at the Stanford d.school to answer this call. Our vision is to become the preeminent SEL curriculum company in the world - leading the global movement of purpose, meaning, and belonging-based education world wide.

What We Value

You will be supporting a team of incredibly motivated and dedicated staff members that are committed to living the values of our organization. We have a close culture where team members get to know one another and work collaboratively across teams. We feel and act like a purpose-driven organization. Read this article by our Founder about our workplace culture in Conscious Company. We also value access, equity, diversity, and belonging. This is represented primarily in three ways: our product, our staff, and our schools.

The Role

Wayfinder is searching for an Education Funding Contractor to support our team! The goal of this contract position is to help Wayfinder’s leadership team and district partners get a sense of the changing K12 funding landscape in each of our priority states. With the impending ESSER cliff, some states are preparing to boost state level funding to mitigate the effects of the drop in federal funding, or are creating specific grant programs that districts can apply to. Meanwhile, other states do not appear poised to address this cliff at all and will let this federal infusion of funds end without a plan to increase state funding. Wayfinder is looking to contract with an individual with a deep understanding of K12 funding in the United States to help us understand how our key 10-15 states are planning to respond to the phasing out of ESSER.

Please note that this is a contractor opportunity. If you are interested in full-time employment with Wayfinder, please see currently open opportunities on our Careers page. No agreement for full-time employment is indicated through your acceptance of this contract role.

Role Responsibilities Include:

  • Taking an inventory of how much ESSER funds have been spent and how much remain in our key states and districts
  • Pending legislation at the federal and state levels designed to address the funding cliff and an analysis of the likelihood this legislation is enacted
  • New grant programs at the state and federal levels designed to address the funding gap and that align with the products and services offered by Wayfinder
  • Synthesizing all of the above into a report for Wayfinder’s Leadership Team
  • Creating a Grant Guide that Wayfinder’s partners can use with pertinent information on Wayfinder that districts will need to write Wayfinder into their grant applications

Please note the exact scope of this project will be determined in consultation with the contractor.

Role Qualifications:

  • The person who takes this role should have a deep understanding of how K12 funding works at the local, state, and federal levels
  • Direct experience managing district/charter budgets, applying for grants, and analyzing legislation is highly preferred

Time Commitment:

  • The exact time commitment will be determined in consultation with the candidate and will depend on the final scope of work
  • That said, we imagine this project will take 4-6 weeks to complete on a part-time basis
