San Domenico High School trained their teachers at the 2018 Summer Institute.

Timeline

In 2018 the Purpose Toolkit was an elective for seniors. It became a required class out of popular demand from students. In 2019 the Belonging Toolkit was integrated into the 9th grade Human Development class.

How it's implemented

  • In 2018 Wayfinder was offered as a stand alone elective for seniors
  • It became one of the most. popular classes at the school and by popular demand from students it became a required class.
  • In 2019  they added Belonging to their freshman mentoring program.
  • In 2020, they added the Belonging Toolkit to the sophomore Human Development class to support student developemnt.
  • Next year, they are considering middle school as well as an upper level roll out.
  • San Domenico’s motto is “education with a purpose” and Wayfinder deepened the purpose in their education.
  • In the pandemic, Wayfinder was a key to supporting students through the pandemic.
  • ~ It was especially impactful for students who were struggling with misfortune.
