Business Development Representative
 Katelyn Schwab

Katelyn started her teaching career in China, teaching English and American Culture. When she returned to the US, she worked as an instructional aide while working towards her credential. Katelyn taught tiny humans (kindergarten-3rd grade) and got really good at combo classes (three in five years: K/1st, 1st/2nd, 2nd/3rd). She loved being a safe place for her students while creating a culture of belonging and community in her classroom. Her passion for her students led her to get her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University, Fullerton, with a focus on educational technology, social justice, and trauma-informed teaching.

Her own mental health journey and ADHD diagnosis have made social-emotional learning for children a passion for her, and led her to switch gears to support educators and students in a new way. Katelyn decided to become a Business Development Representative after realizing that a BDR role gave her opportunities to lean into her strengths of empathy, adaptability, research, and helping others learn new things. She loves getting to make a great first impression and have meaningful conversations about helping students live purposeful lives. She isn’t a “sell honey to a bee” type of salesperson. She is passionate about developing business for Wayfinder because she believes students and teachers deserve the best support and resources for SEL.

When she’s not working in her plant-filled home office, Katelyn spends her time exploring with her rescue pup Josie, reading books, creating for her side hustle, drinking good coffee, and complaining about the Southern California heat.

My purpose is to live authentically and spend a lifetime learning to help destigmatize mental health care through community, vulnerability, creativity, and empathy.
